Freight Central

Scan, Pack and Ship

The Freight Central App is a powerful solution that simplifies your packing and shipping process within Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

Freight Central App

The Freight Central App is a robust solution designed to enhance your packing and shipping operations. Whether you’re managing your own fleet or collaborating with carriers. Let’s explore its key features:

Base Application:

Freight Central serves as the foundation for managing your own fleet efficiently and working with local or international carriers that don’t provide direct API integration. You can enhance its capabilities by using the Shippit multicarrier integration or the Tasklet Pack and Ship integration.

The freight order is the central shipping document that captures all the details of shipments and returns. It allows you to book freight and print shipping labels. You can create freight orders by simply scanning the document number barcode from various sources such as warehouse shipments, sales orders, sales returns, posted sales shipments, posted sales invoices, purchase return orders, posted return shipments, transfer orders, or posted transfer shipments. Alternatively, you can manually enter the document number on the freight order.

Additionally, you can create a freight order directly from the document pages. Freight Central also allows you to create miscellaneous freight orders from the customer card, vendor card, employee card, contact card, or an address list.

Packing Station

Freight Central supports the setup of one or more packing stations for each location or warehouse. You can link the barcode scanner (keyboard wedge),shipping label printer, item label printer, license plate label printer, A4 document printer, and a PrintNode-compatible digital scale to a packing station. Direct printing to a printer or using a digital scale requires a PrintNode license.

Optional: Barcode Scanning

For maximum efficiency, consider using barcode scanning. Instantly create freight orders by scanning the barcode of a source document number. Seamlessly define package details (weight, dimensions) and weigh packages accurately with digital scale integration. The key benefit of scanning SKU barcodes is achieving 100% accuracy in verifying the items you pack against the source document. This reduces picking mistakes, especially when dealing with similar-looking products.

Optional: License Plating

License plating is a method used in warehouse management to group and manage inventory within a container, such as a pallet, carton, or truck. Each container is assigned a unique License Plate Number (LPN) and labeled with a barcode. In Freight Central, you can assign a license plate to a package and scan a SKU into a package. Packages can be grouped into a higher-level license plate like a pallet. License plating ensures EDI compliance with larger retailers and is fully compatible with the Tasklet Pack and Ship integration.

Carrier Integrations

To book freight with your preferred carrier, a carrier or multi-carrier integration like the Shippit integration is required. Different carrier integrations can operate simultaneously, supporting pickups and returns from multiple locations. The platform’s delivery services setup allows you to activate available services for specific locations. You can also set up profiles for specific customers or customer posting groups, enabling branded labeling and package tracking. For custom carrier integrations, get in touch with Skipper Dynamics.
